FCC Won`t Let You Be

The FCC is the bane of hundreds of artists in the business of entertainment, from Howard Stern to Eminem and everyone in between. From television to radio across the US, the FCC hands out fines left and right to try to control what the entertainment business brings out to the world. In case anyone believed that in these more liberal times, the FCC would cut back and basically relax, it`s time to think again.

President Bush signed legislation on Wednesday that will boost FCC fines by tenfold to both broadcast television and radio. It was bad enough that the FCC eventually pushed Howard Stern out of broadcast radio and into the pay-for satellite radio business, but now the government would like to control every aspect of the broadcasting business.

What ever happened to freedom of speech? How can the FCC tell a station that they have violated decency standards? Haven`t we reached an era where decency standards have changed? It seems that this overall government control of every aspect of the business world is turning America into a totalitarian government regime. If things continue this way, the US will soon no longer be a super power, but a country which needs to be re-taught the rules of democracy.
