The End of the Diet Business
The diet business in the US is a multi-million dollar industry, due to the quantity of overweight people in the states. In fact, over 60 million individuals living in the US at this time are considered obese, and the numbers are growing yearly. People try and fail new diets everyday, and because of these, more and more diet books, CDs and online sites are created everyday. But it seems as if the business of diets will soon be over, assuming of course pharmaceutical companies can bring the business to them.
There is one thing that the pharmaceutical businesses know how to do better than anything else, and that is to create recurring clients. There are few medications that actually cure anything, and those that due usually end up causing other problems. For example, antibiotics, which kill off bacterial infections, generally destroy other bacteria that are needed for normal human function, killing off these "good" bacteria causes a patient to go back and purchase a new prescription that will fix the new problem.
However, there are cases where pharmaceutical businesses manage to stop or at least control a problem, and their newest solution is for obese individuals. It has recently been discovered that amino acids, such as leucine, actually help to curb hunger and thus will help to control and reduce a persons overall weight. Studies are still being done on leucine, but if their initial discoveries are true, an end to obesity and the diet industry are in site.
