Summer Vacation Cost Saving Tricks

Its summer time and that means that like most people, you are taking a break from your job or business, and spending some much needed vacation days with your family. As you must know already, unless your business covers your vacation expenses, taking you and your entire family somewhere magical is far from affordable. However, there are great places with in the US and even in the Caribbean that almost any body can afford.

So, you saved up all your vacation days, waited until your kids got off from school and now you are all ready to go away and relax. But where do you go? Disney World is always an option, but if your kids are over the age of 14 and have been there before, they may not be all too excited. Plus, unless you work in a multibillion dollar business that you get percentages off of, you know that places such as Disney World or Universal Studios are quite expensive. In fact, the price of a vacation this summer is likely to cost you 5.4% more than last summer.

What this means is that a family of four should expect to pay approximately $260 a day on food and lodging. "Even though prices are going up, you can still find good values if you pick a destination a bit off the beaten track," says Barbara Messing, vice president of customer experience at discount travel site Hotwire. So, what are some of these places? For starters, you can go to Virginia, where you can visit Colonial Williamsburg, go to Bush Gardens or just relax on the beach. Check out other great deals at Hotwire.com or even at your local AAA.
