New WAP Yellow Pages for Indian Users
India?s most popular online community portal has introduced its own version of the Yellow Pages on their WAP platform. The first of its kind in India, the world`s most populous democracy, Sulekha is a unique service which will enable users to access over tens of thousands of business listings through WAP-enabled cell phone sets from anywhere across the world. This innovative feature will also allow the display of business data within seconds on cell phone screens, thus reducing the time taken by users to obtain similar information in a different way.
Says Vineet Pabreja, who is the Director for Interactive Services of Sulekha, ?Telecommunications is an exciting space to be in. Presently, India has about 100 million mobile subscribers and we are proud to be the first company in India that will deliver the Yellow Pages in a WAP format. We would like to promote this service to internet users and are also looking at tie-ups with mobile operators. A combination of these promotional activities will help us provide the best possible product: an endeavor that is the mainstay of any Sulekha offering."
