Wasting Arab Money on Lebanon

Countries like Syria and Iran will likely not see their tourism seasons ? should the dictatorship and theocratic state-sponsor of terror even have discernable tourism seasons ? disturbed by the latest war to break out in the Middle East, unless Israel decides that the time has come for those who pull the strings of Hezbollah to feel the wrath of the millions of dollars-worth of bombs and missiles at the Jewish state?s disposal. No doubt, many Lebanese tour operators are likely fuming at the ability of a paramilitary group which holds seats in the Lebanese parliament to drag the country into war against the will of the majority.

Arab countries donating money to Lebanon may be donating money that will in the end just be wasted. Lebanon has a history of war and rebuilding that usually ends up with a war destroying all that has been rebuilt. Just this past week, three runways at Rafik Hariri International Airport in Beirut were bombed by Israel, allowed to be rebuilt for a short time, and then bombed again by Jerusalem in order to prevent the bringing in of weapons or the shipping out of Israeli soldiers currently being held hostage by Hezbollah.

Of course, Hezbollah is wasting money spent over the years on Soviet-built Katyusha rockets by firing them into Israel, and with the determination of the Jewish state to prevent Hezbollah?s re-supply, the likelihood of Hezbollah being able to easily receive the weapons it has already bought has been markedly lowered. But, Hezbollah does not lack for financial or materiel donors, so any cease-fire will likely see a Hezbollah rearming and a future war.
