Home Prices and Sales During the Summer

Will the summer season in the U.S. lead to an increase of home sales or a decrease? The U.S. housing market already has a surplus of over-priced homes, so if home sellers see the light and lower their prices for summer buyers, we might see a slight increase in home sales for the remainder of July, August and even into September. Summer is often the only time of the year when people really have the freedom to move, and buy, and so this time of year is likely to be excellent to those that see the opportunities and take advantage of them.

Of course, it depends on where homes are located when thinking how low to lower your home price. You don?t want to lower it too much, because it may in the future have an adverse effect on the ability of other homeowners to sell their homes at a value that would give them a proper return on their investments. Homes in areas of the U.S. wracked by heat waves or forest fires might also have difficulty selling, regardless of how low the prices are.

At the year?s end, we will be able to see how many homes were bought and sold, build or torn down. In the meantime, for all those who are looking for a home this summer, you might be in a prime time to negotiate down to a price more to your liking. It could prove to be better for you, not to mention for the home sellers themselves.
