The business of weddings has bought many companies huge profits over the past several years. It seems that every bride wants to have the perfect dream wedding, and rightfully so. And with the internet providing an easier and more effective way to shop for everything bridal, most couples are hitting the web. Recent results from a wedding survey conducted by The Wedding Report show that 77% of couples will use the Internet to help plan their wedding.

As related to their engagement, wedding, honeymoon, and time after, 43% will use the Internet to research products and services, while 13% will purchase products and services. These results are based on a sample of 499 surveys. It is estimated that 2006 will have 2,271,910 weddings with an average wedding cost of $26,800. 43%, or 976,921, of those weddings will research products and services online while 13%, 295,348, weddings will buy products and services online. It is thus approximated that the online wedding market worth over $7.9 billion.

The items that are generally researched online include the wedding cake, wedding dress and the bride bouquet. At the other end of the spectrum, the least researched options on the survey were financial assistance, insurance and cars. The wedding-related items bought on the web include wedding favors, attendant gifts, invitations and reply cards. If you are planning a wedding, using the internet as your basis for research is a great idea. In addition, have the ability to select from a wide range of stores, without ever leaving the comfort of your own home, is what makes the internet the ideal place to shop for almost any occasion.
