Airbus Completes A380 Superjumbo Test Flight
Airbus`s midsize passenger jet, A380, completed the last part of its test flights around the world, which took 18 days, and returned to southern France to await approval from Airline regulators. The jet will be the largest passenger jet in the world once it enters use next year. It is expected to be authorized for use in the US and Europe around mid-December.
The jet returned to Toulouse, France, after completing its journey over the North and South poles. The fist landing was made in Jonesburg, South Africa, on Sunday. On Tuesday the plane landed in Sydney, Australia, and on Wednesday it landed in Vancouver, Canada. The A380 began its final stage of tests on November 13, when it flow to Singapore and then proceeded to Seoul, South Korea`s capitol. The second test flight took the jet to Hong Kong and Japan, and the third included several Chinese airports. The forth and final flight was a flight around the world.
The test pilot said that the flight was smooth, comfortable and quiet. Pilots form the European Airline Safety Commission and the US Federal Airline Administration, have conducted a series of technical evaluations. The jet, which is to seat 840 passengers, has been delayed quite a bit due to problems with its electrical wiring. These delays have prompted to of Airbus` officials to resign in the past two years but at last it seems that Airbus is on the right track to generate profits, which it so needs.
