Senior Care Industry Wages Rise

One of America`s leading compensation and benefits survey companies, Wage Watch, announced this weekend that its second annual "National Senior Living Compensation Survey of Continuing Care Centers, Assisted Living Facilities, Nursing Homes, Hospice, and Home Care" indicates that wages for fifty-four key jobs in that field increased nationwide by an average of 3.8% over 2005. Wage Watch analyzed year-to-year average wages for twenty-eight clerical and support jobs, twelve professional jobs, as well as fourteen important management jobs, finding significant wage growth among all three groups.

More than 1,900 facilities are reported to have participated in the survey, whose name is too long to repeat again. Clerical and support jobs related to the survey include Food Service Worker, Housekeeper, Unit Clerk, Activity Assistant and Van or Bus Driver, as well as department heads over Nursing, Dietary Services, and Social Services, Charge Nurse, Physical Therapist, and Dieticians.

?Overall, the clerical and support job group lagged in wage growth compared to the other two, with an average increase of approximately 1.5%,? said Margaret Dyekman, President and COO of Wage Watch. ?The average wage increase for the other two groups is over 6%. National averages are a great starting point to see trends in the industry, but our survey subscribers are also able to perform their own analyses by metro area or region."
