Disney World Gets $4 More Expensive

Even as energy prices rise, prompting airline companies to raise their airfare and gas stations to raise their per-gallon charges (some have accused them of price-gouging), it has been announced by a Walt Disney World that it`s going to cost even more money to take a trip to Florida`s Mouse House. And while it might not seem a lot, when Walt Disney World is raising its ticket prices now by $4, it marks a 22 percent price raise since early 2004.

The price for a one-day, one-park admission into Walt Disney World will now be $67. This follows a price raise that went into effect January 1, when Disney raised its ticket prices from $59.75 to $63. That raise was followed up by ticket prices rising at SeaWorld and Universal Studios in Orlando. The news has met with dismay among travelers, who faced with increasing travel costs might choose to stick closer to home until some solution is found to the high oil prices of the moment.

On October 1, Disney is set start a new campaign called "Year of a Million Dreams", during which a million prizes will be handed out to guests at the Disney World resort. Finally, in what could be seen as bittersweet news, Disney World also announced this week that guests would be allowed to reschedule their vacations and reapply their deposits to future trips to the Magic Kingdom if a hurricane warning has been posted for Orlando, or even their hometown if they are in a hurricane-prone region.
