Hitachi and Toyota in Motor Deal
According to a leading Japanese daily , Toyota Motor Corp. has begun purchasing electric motors for hybrid cars from Hitachi Ltd. Toyota executed the move in order to meet increasing demands for fuel-efficient vehicles, which have soared, along with gas prices.
The car giant reportedly signed a purchasing agreement with Hitachi to buy electric motors, in spite of Hitachi maintaining close relations with rival Nissan Motors.
According to wire services, Hitachi will supply rear motors for Toyota`s Harrier Hybrid and Kluger Hybrid four-wheel-drive vehicles, which launched in 2005. Toyota and Hitachi officials have not yet commented on the partnership.
