Delta Airlines to cut pay

According to wire reports, Delta Airlines, the nation`s third-largest air carrier, is prepared to use the bankruptcy court to achieve $325 million in cost concessions from its pilots if the company and union can`t reach a deal together.

Eight days after filing for bankruptcy, Delta said it would target $930 million in annual savings from its employees, incuding $325 million from pilots. The pilots union must to agree to the cuts or have the cuts imposed on the union in bankruptcy court

Delta Pilots Union spokesman John Culp says the organization has held fact-finding meetings with management, but wants more information before deciding on concessions. The chairman of the union`s executive committee, Lee Moak wrote to pilots saying the union would make efforts to impress on Delta`s management that, "pilots will not be their ATM."
