Mega Millions Grand Prize won in California

A Mega Millions lottery ticket sold in Anahaim, California has won the $315 million grand prize. In addition to the grand prize winner, 19 players that didn`t match the Mega Ball number, matched all five of the other numbers. They will receive second prizes of $250,000 each.

Another 158 players matched four numbers, plus the Mega Ball number which pays out third prizes of $10,000 each. Besides California, Mega Millions is played in Texas, Ohio, New York, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, Virginia and Washington.

Mega Millions holds the record for the largest jackpot in U.S. history. On May 9, 2000, the jackpot for the Big Game, the forerunner of Mega Millions, grew to $363 million.
