Wal-Mart releases positive sales forecast
Wal-Mart Stores announced today that it maintains its sales forecast for November, which is the start of the holiday shopping season. Still predicting 3% to 5% gains for the next month in all U.S. locations that have been open for at least one year, the discount superchain has already begun holiday advertising and aggressive discounting on toys, electronics, clothing and other items.
Analysts says this could be attributed to Wal-Mart`s lackluster performance last holiday season, when high prices kept customers away. However, with an early start on wowing their customer, Wal-Mart maintains a positive outlook on their holiday earnings.
Whether online shopping will be able to have an effect on Wal-Mart sales, as shoppers increasingly rely on their home computer internet connections to do holiday shopping, remains to be seen.
