E. Coli Beef Patty Recall
A meat company is voluntarily recalling about 94,400 pounds of frozen ground beef patties possibly contaminated with E. coli. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture`s Food Safety and Inspection Service, the Quaker Maid Meat products being recalled include, both three- and five-pound boxes of "PHILLY-GOURMET, 100% PURE BEEF, HOMESTYLE PATTIES."
The USDA reports three cases of illness prompted tests, which found E. coli O157:H7, a potentially deadly bacterium that can cause bloody diarrhea and dehydration.
The patties were produced on July 19 and shipped to retail stores in Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and Wisconsin.
