Delta Asks For Imposed Concessions
Delta Airlines is planning to ask a bankruptcy court to impose $325-million in concessions it has been seeking from is pilots as part of its recovery efforts according the pilots union. Delta had originally asked the pilots some time ago to take the cuts as part of a recovery plan for the airline, but from the very beginning the pilots union was opposed.
The news was delivered to pilots in a recorded telephone message by Union spokesman John Culp, saying Delta`s decision came after negotiations between the two sides failed. It is not known what further effects will be of the concessions or the proceedings in banruptcy court for one of America`s biggest airlines.
Delta is only one of a number of airlines having chosen to declare bankrupty recently, in part because the environment created by high oil prices demonstrated a hard time for airlines and it was a safer time to do it for the industry.
