Yahoo acquires recent startup

Internet company Yahoo Inc. acquired a New York startup Friday that will add to Yahoo`s repertoire of services. Yahoo did not disclose how much it payed for Delicio US, saying the price was not enough to affect the company`s finances.

Yahoo`s acquisition of Delicio US Inc. is indicative of the services Yahoo has been adding in an effort to compete with Google, another Internet company offering similar services to Yahoo. Google went public in 2004 and its stock has continued to soar since then. Yahoo is also in direct competition with Microsoft`s MSN and Time Warner`s America Online.

Delicio US is a Web site that allows users to create personal pages dedicated to their favorite books, articles, music, etc. Users can share their page with other users by simply sending them the web link.
