Keep it simple. "Dont get bogged down with too many details. Youll have enough on your plate the night of the event. Keep everything as simple as possible."

Keep it focused. "The biggest Christmas party-planning mistake I hear about is spending time and money on things that dont really matter," says Robertson. "Going overboard on decorations for example. People dont remember the decorations, they remember the fun and social part most."

Keep it upbeat. "Holiday parties are not the time for the CEOs to make long speeches. The party is to celebrate the holiday. Keep it upbeat. All presentations should be short, brief and upbeat."

Keep it fun. "As a committee, find out what your company wants entertainment wise. Bands, DJs, Comedians, Murder Mystery? Find out. Try to stay away from the same-old and worn-out events."
